Tansy, Tanacetum vulgare, has a long tradition of being used for an effective treatment for intestinal worms.
It is also used for repelling insects, such as lice, tics and mosquitoes.
Tansy has been used for the following:
migraines
rheumatism
promoting menstration
herpes simplex
gout
epileptic seizures
fevers
poor appetite
NOTE: Should only be used topically unless under professional direction.
I forage this plant in central MN.
Comes in a 1 oz amber bottle with dropper.
I use the folk method for making all my tinctures, which uses no measurements except sizing things up with your eyes. So I put the plant material in a jar and then fill with alcohol.
Dosages -
Because tansy contains some toxic compounds, like thujone, it can cause death if taken in large quantities. Death has been reported from taking 10 or more drops of tansy oils, teas or powders.
Should only be used topically unless under professional direction.
