Poke Root, Phytolacca americana, has a long history as both a food and herbal remedy. In China, it has been used over 2,000 years to treat edemas and especially breast tumors, lumps and mastitis.

NOTE: all parts of the plant are toxic. It is a strong herb, so dosages must be monitored and respected. Do your research before using.

I foraged this plant in central Minnesota.

I use the folk method for making all my tinctures, which uses no measurements except sizing things up with your eyes. So I put the plant material in a jar and then fill with alcohol.
